The magic of Japanese culture and the world of manga were some of the highlights of Saint George’s Day thanks to the collaboration of Oriol Estrada, a renowned writer and promoter of this culture.
Estrada delved into this genre, dispelling myths such as its supposed violent content and introduced students to the various subgenres available, tailored for different ages and genders, with well-known examples like Doraemon or Dragon Ball. Additionally, various themes addressed by manga were explored, from historical genres to horror or social themes. It was also compared to European comics, highlighting substantial differences and explaining the large industry that develops behind manga, even in countries like France, which are emerging as major producers of this art form. Connected to this activity, AFA acquired four copies to inaugurate the manga section in the school library.
The younger ones also enjoyed the day: AFA organized an original and creative literary workshop for them. The children had the opportunity to build stories collectively, using balloons as tools to chain ideas and texts, a practice to foster their imagination, explore new forms of expression, and develop narrative skills in a playful and collaborative environment.
Once again, AFA has managed to complement the cultural offer of Saint George’s Day at the school with activities that promote reading and writing and, at the same time, open windows to other cultures. It has been a fantastic Saint George’s Day, full of creativity and culture, leaving everyone with lots of beautiful memories and, above all… eager to read!
